Visit of Marsala and wine tasting in the Winery
Spend a day exploring Marsala famous for its legendary wine and lovely windmills. Here you will visit a winery and enjoy lunch at this seaside town.
Pick up at 8:30 AM at the Palermo pier where your ship will dock.
Your guide will have a sign with your name on it and a smile to welcome you.

Many regions in Italy today have a particular wine for which they are famous for throughout the world. Sicily has one also: it’s Marsala wine.During this tour you will discover that this wine is more than famous, it’s legendary!
We will drive for a little over an hour and a half to one of Marsala’s oldest and historical wineries for a tour. Here your host will tell you all about the making of legendary Marsala wine and take you through the cellars filled with giant oak barrels where the wine is aged. Discovered by the English during the 18th century, this local wine became as famous as Port and Madeira throughout the world. You will get a chance to sample a few of the different types of Marsala wines that this old winery produces still today.
Afterwards we will go for a short visit of the old port town of Marsala. Once called Lilybeum, this town has seen the passage of many famous men and battles: Aeneas, Julius Caesar, the First Punic War, General Giuseppe Garibaldi and more. Today the town center is a delightful place for a quiet walk. Afterwards we will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
Before going back to your ship, we will stop along the Western coastline to see the salt marshes and windmills that make up a lovely patchwork of colors. These saltpans produce sea salt still today just like they did many centuries ago going back to the time of the Phoenicians and Romans.
Return to the ship by 4:00 PM
